The Teacher, Building & Construction provides professional teaching and vocational expertise, across all aspects of delivery, planning and performance to ensure excellent outcomes for learners, the organisations that employ them and the communities they serve.

This position focuses on excellence in learner support, teaching delivery and learning assessment.

The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Building & Construction and works to promote educational excellence, business growth and student centred services for the Building & Construction team.

Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Plan education practices and delivery sessions that reflect the most effective way to engage learners
  • Develop and deliver planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology, including Moodle, to engage learners and meet their needs and learning styles
  • Ensure high quality and current resources, teaching materials and assessments are used in teaching and learning activities
  • Design and develop high quality teaching and learning resources including tailored materials in a range of formats to suit varying learning styles
  • Ensure that teaching materials and resources meet all regulatory standards, training packages and related requirements
  • Engage with employers and industry representatives to ensure teaching materials and content meet industry and employer needs and are current
  • Adapt teaching materials to meet industry needs and specific tailored programs
  • Work collaboratively with internal clients across all business areas of the Institute to identify and support business growth opportunities


You will bring the following skills and experience with you:

  • Essential Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • Essential Vocational qualifications in Certificate III Carpentry/at the AQF level relevant to the level of teaching required
  • Desirable Diploma in VET Practice
  • Vocational currency as demonstrated through a range of work and related experience
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies as required for the teaching discipline
  • Desirable Industry/Association registrations
  • Advanced literacy and numeracy skills relevant to the position
  • Proven experience in planning programs, learning materials and teaching delivery plans in an adult learning environment

In addition to this you will enjoy working collaboratively within a diverse team, be highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
