About the role:
The Graduate Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance and Payroll team to meet its obligations from an operational, reporting and strategic perspective.
The Graduate Accountant reports to the Financial Accountant with a matrix reporting line to the Executive Manager Finance & Payroll. The position is required to work with other Finance staff in a range of capacities on an operational, day-to-day basis.
The position is responsible for carrying out professional accounting duties related to aspects of financial and management accounting transactions. This role will contribute towards all aspects of finance operations, including internal and external financial reporting, month-end processing, budgeting and forecasting.
The Graduate Accountant forms part of the broader Finance and Payroll team, which is a dynamic group focused on process efficiency, quality outcomes, productive partnerships and a commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement. The team is responsible for compliance with government regulations and the BHI’s financial policies and procedures by providing high quality advice and support to managers and employees engaged in financial transactions throughout the organisation.
We are seeking a dynamic person with a minimum of 2 years work experience preferably in a corporate or Government setting, while Education-sector experience is highly desirable.
You will have a tertiary qualification in commerce and/or accounting that qualifies for entry into CA/CPA accreditation. You must have the willingness to complete the CA/CPA accreditation.
You must have high level of problem solving skills including the ability to exercise sound judgement and make recommendations when necessary. You must be a person who has the ability to proactively identify opportunities outside of standard practice and implement business improvements.
You will need to provide or be willing to obtain a current National Police Records Check, a Working with Children Check, evidence of your entitlement to work in Australia, and certified copies of your qualifications.
