The Learning Designer is accountable for the design, development and continuous improvement of online learning programs and assessments offered by Chisholm Online, for VET course offerings and commercial projects.

The role has a focus on developing innovative and engaging strategies for vocational adult learning in an online environment and is responsible for designing courses and assessments that are workplace-relevant, VET-compliant and employ current educational technologies.

The Learning Designer is a key and active participant in the Product Development team and will work collaboratively with team members, industry partners, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to ensure Chisholm learning programs meet industry needs and achieve learner outcomes. The role requires extensive experience in the design and development of online programs to a high quality standard that supports achievement of educational outcomes and enhances student engagement levels.

Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Contribute to implementing educational technologies to develop an engaging digital learning experience and enable the authentic collection of assessment evidence
  • Continuously collaborate with the product development team and key stakeholders to achieve the alignment of learning, teaching and assessment
  • Develop student and assessor guides/documentation to support effective online facilitation
  • Adhere to the quality assurance process for all programs developed within the project scope 
  • Ensure all learning content created is constructively aligned to learning outcomes and assessment.
  • Ensure course content is current and relevant to industry/market by fostering and maintaining connections to educators and subject matter experts.


You will have relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in either eLearning, learning design, instructional design, adult education or training and development and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116). A bachelor degree in Education or related field or postgraduate qualifications in education, curriculum design, instructional design, digital learning, multimedia design or similar is desirable.

Crucial to your success will be your extensive design experience in an online, face to face and workplace environment across multiple disciplines, using instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles and pedagogy to support the development of blended learning/online learning programs.

Your experience designing and developing student centred and constructively aligned learning content for online or blended learning programs will be key as will your experience in writing/rewriting learning content and assessments to suit online learning delivery and your experience developing learning content for use in VET (e.g., writing and designing learning content to a unit of competency).

You will be an exceptional communicator, collaborative by nature and you will thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, being a vital part of the continuing success of Chisholm Online.
